Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of RefVerify, an AI-assisted academic reference verification service operated by Shajins Group LLC (“we”, “us”, or “our”), a limited liability company registered in Cheyenne, Wyoming, United States.

By creating an account, purchasing credits, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

RefVerify is an AI-powered tool that takes academic references submitted by you and returns a verdict indicating whether each reference appears to be real, partially correct (e.g. DOI mismatch), unverifiable, or fabricated. Results are produced by large-language-model reasoning combined with live web search of scholarly sources.

We may add, modify, or remove features at any time. We may also impose reasonable rate limits or batch-size limits to protect service stability.

2. Accounts

• You sign in via Google or Microsoft through Shajins Passport. You are responsible for maintaining the security of the identity provider account you use.
• You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the EEA/UK) to use the Service.
• You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date.
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

3. Credits and Payments

• RefVerify uses a one-time credit-pack model. Each credit permits one reference verification.
• Credits do not expire. Credits remain on your account until used.
• Credits are non-refundable once consumed. A credit is consumed at the moment a verification job is created, even if the underlying AI result is “unverifiable”. Unused credits may be refunded at our discretion within 14 days of purchase, where required by law, or in cases of clear billing error.
• Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. By purchasing credits, you also agree to Stripe’s terms. We do not receive or store your full card number.
• Prices are listed in U.S. dollars. We may change prices at any time; price changes do not affect credits already purchased.
• You are responsible for any taxes that may apply to your purchase under your local laws.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service in any way that violates applicable law or regulation.
• Submit content that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, or contains personal data of third parties without lawful basis.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, scrape, mirror, or otherwise extract bulk data from the Service.
• Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service, or bypass any rate limits, authentication, or security controls.
• Use automated means (bots, crawlers, headless browsers) to access the Service without our prior written consent.
• Resell, sublicense, or otherwise commercially redistribute the Service or its outputs as a substitute service.
• Misrepresent verification results, alter the verdicts we return, or pass off RefVerify outputs as the work of another tool or person.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules without prior notice.

5. AI-Assisted Output — No Guarantee

RefVerify is an AI-assisted tool, not an authoritative adjudicator of academic integrity. Verification results are generated by large language models combined with live web search and may be incomplete, out of date, or incorrect.

Results are not legal advice, academic ruling, editorial decision, or proof of misconduct. They are intended as a research aid only. You are solely responsible for any action taken based on RefVerify output, including decisions related to publication, grading, peer review, retraction, or academic discipline.

We make no warranty that any specific reference will be classified as real, fake, or unverifiable, or that classifications will remain consistent across runs.

6. Intellectual Property

• Our IP. RefVerify, the “RefVerify” name, the site, and all underlying software, design, and content are owned by Shajins Group LLC and protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
• Your content. You retain ownership of the reference text you submit. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process that text solely to provide the Service to you.
• Output. You may use the verification results we return for your own academic, editorial, or research purposes.

7. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

8. Termination

• You may stop using the Service at any time, and you may request account deletion by emailing support@refverify.com.
• We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, abuse the Service, or use it in a manner that creates legal or operational risk for us or other users.
• Upon termination for cause, unused credits may be forfeited. Termination does not entitle you to a refund of consumed credits.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL SHAJINS GROUP LLC, ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, REPUTATION, OR ACADEMIC OUTCOMES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $50.

11. Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Shajins Group LLC and its affiliates from any claim, demand, or damages (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of (a) your use of the Service, (b) your violation of these Terms, or (c) your violation of any third-party right.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date above will reflect the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing Law and Venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Wyoming, USA, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

14. Miscellaneous

• If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.
• Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of that provision.
• You may not assign these Terms without our written consent. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
• These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
